LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The No. 10 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-4, 7-1 PSAC) put together a sensational effort in the second half today and the Lady Eagles celebrated senior day with a 17-7 win over visiting Shippensburg University (7-6, 3-5 PSAC).

Reigning PSAC Player of the Week Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was one of nine Haven seniors honored during pregame ceremonies and she certainly made the most of her final regular season home game. Johnson had eight points including three goals and five assists.

Fellow senior Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) also got into the act, netting all four of her goals in the second half as Lock Haven went into cruise control during the second 30 minutes of play.

LHU led 7-5 at half, but outscored Shippensburg 10-2 in the second on the way to the lopsided PSAC win.

Prior to the game Lock Haven honored its nine-member senior class that has been nothing short of spectacular in the crimson and white. Highlighting the senior classes accomplishments are three straight PSAC Tournament titles and three trips the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Along with Johnson and Fisher, Lock Haven honored seniors Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), Jackie Macone (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial), Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsburgy), Mattie Evans (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson), Nicole Necci (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport).

Buss and Smyth combined for five goals on the day, scoring three and two, respectively.

Buss recorded a six-point game as she added three assists in the win.

Sacko improved to 9-2 on the year and made eight spectacular saves in over 47 minutes of play. Necci saw action as well over the last 12 minutes and immediately made her presence felt with a strong save.

Lock Haven's defense stiffened in the second half and helped lead LHU to the win. Lock Haven caused 11 turnovers and Evans led the way with three.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, April 20 at rival and ninth ranked West Chester University (3 p.m.). The Haven will also be in action on Saturday, April 21 at 4 p.m. at Kutztown University.
