LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the ninth time this season
Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) recorded a multiple-goal game which led the No. 10 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (5-4, 3-1 PSAC) to a 17-7 win over visiting Slippery Rock University (5-4, 2-4 PSAC) today in PSAC action.
Fisher was one of eight different Haven goal scorers. She finished with a game-high four goals, marking her seventh consecutive hat trick. The senior-midfielder has scored at least two goals in each of The Haven's nine games this season.
Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) and
Emily Cilla (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) both scored three goals apiece.
Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster) scored a pair of goals including a beautiful behind the back effort late in the second half.
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) also scored twice.
Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) dished out four assists and found the back of the net once for the six-point outing.
Julie Moran (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) and
Rachel Ward (Fishers, Ind./Bishop Chatard) were Lock Haven's other goal scorers.
Midfielder
Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) played for the first time this season and dished out a pair of assists.
Lock Haven got another solid defensive effort form
Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) and
Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton), who combined for five of the Lady Eagles 11 caused turnovers.
Gaeng had four ground balls to go along with her three caused turnovers.
Goalies
Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Nicole Necci (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) each made four saves. With the win Sacko improved to 5-2 on the season.
Lock Haven closed the first half with five straight goals to take a commanding 11-4 halftime lead.
The win pushed Lock Haven to 5-4 on the year and 3-1 in league play.
Lock Haven returns to action on Friday, April 6 at Edinboro University (4 p.m.). in PSAC action.
