Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jamie Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) scored the fastest goal to start a game in the history of Lock Haven University women's soccer and the Lady Eagles shutout Ohio Valley University(1-7) 2-0 today at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Lock Haven (4-3) controlled the opening touch and
Madison Taylor (Monaca, Pa./Center) dribbled down the right side of the field, firing a shot that was turned away by Ohio Valley goalkeeper, Brianna Rice. Hunter, who was in the right place at the right time, corralled the rebound and beat Rice near post.
The goal, which came just 13 seconds into the match, was the quickest goal to start a game in the history of Lock Haven women's soccer, breaking the old record of 47 seconds by Holly Homsher on September 29, 2004 against Edinboro.
LHU tacked on another goal in 17th minute when
Jenna Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) sent a free kick across the box that landed on the foot of Madeline Novak (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) who fired into the net.
The Lady Eagles out-shot the Fighting Scots 11-0 in the first half and LHU put eight of those shots on goal.
LHU continued to dominate in the second half, controlling the possession for the majority of the half.
The Haven defense was sensational all match, as they didn't relinquish a shot until the 62nd minute and recorded their second shutout of the season.
Rice made eight saves for Ohio Valley.
LHU has now won its last three home games at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Lock Haven returns to action on Friday, September 28 when they host Shippensburg in a PSAC conference matchup at 1:30 p.m.
