Men’s Soccer drops overtime thriller to Cal

Bald Eagles fall 2-1; Host ESU Wednesday at Hubert Jack Stadium

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to California (Pa.) today, in a thrilling overtime match at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Lock Haven (4-4-1, 1-2 PSAC) scored the game's first goal in the 35th minute when Asher Klahold (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) flicked the ball over a defender to himself and beat the goalie to the top near post.

The goal was Klahold's second of the season.

LHU held the California (Pa.) (5-5, 2-2 PSAC) offense in check for most of the match, but Cal was able to score in the 78th minute off of a free kick that tied the game up at 1-1 and eventually forced overtime.

Cal scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime frame (98th minute) off the foot of Ryan Slaby.  Slaby collected an LHU clear attempt and found the back of the net from 17 yards out.

LHU goalkeeper Chris Frederick (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) made six saves in the match for LHU.

LHU returns to action Wednesday, October 3, when LHU hosts East Stroudsburg at 4 p.m. at Hubert Jack Stadium
