Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (1-1, 0-1 PSAC) fell 1-0 today to Gannon University (3-0, 1-0 PSAC) in a thrilling PSAC opener at Hubert Jack Stadium.
The game remained tied at 0-0 at halftime, as neither team was able to capitalize on multiple scoring chances.
Gannon's Justine Rodrigues hit the lone goal of the game in the 80th minute from 23 yards out.
LHU outshot GU 12-6 and put six of those shots on net.
Samantha Biondi (Hamilton, N.J./Mercer County C.C.) and
Haylea Myers (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) did a great job all day of controlling the midfield for The Haven.
Biondi and
Madison Taylor (Monaca, Pa./Center) led the Lady Eagles with two shots on goal each.
LHU goalkeeper
Dana Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass./Mount St. Charles Academy) had an outstanding game in net for The Haven. Wozniak made four saves on the game, including a tremendous leaping save 10 minutes into the second half.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday (September 8) when they hit the road to take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 12:30 p.m.
