Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team was shutout 2-0 today by rival California (Pa.) in PSAC action.
The Vulcans netted a goal in both the first and second half as the visitors cruised to a 2-0 victory tonight at Hubert Jack Stadium.
California (5-5-1, 2-1-1 PSAC) took a step up on Lock Haven (4-6, 2-3 PSAC) in the PSAC standing as only a single point separated the two teams at the start of the contest.
The Vulcans wasted little time getting on the scoreboard registering their first tally of the game in the ninth minute. Jeffrey Kyei found the back of the net for the eighth time this season when he took a long swinging cross from Cory Kuzilla. Kyei had plenty of time to pick his target and fired a shot back across to the far post.
The scored stayed at 1-0 heading into the halftime break as Lock Haven held a 3-1 shot advantage at the half.
Cal took control of the game in the second half getting the majority of the chances as they outshot the Bald Eagles 5-2 in the second stanza and 6-5 for the contest.
Lubos Kubik gave Cal an insurance goal in the 76th minute when he took a short cross in front of the LHU cage and found the back of the net from point blank range.
Shots on goal were few and far between in the hard-fought and physical PSAC grudge match.

Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning Painted Post East) made a single stop facing six total shots for the game. The Vulcan's Mitch Mack earned a shutout making two stops on the night.
Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 12) at 7:30 p.m. vs. No. 15 Slippery Rock.
