Men’s Soccer falls at home to No. 15 Slippery Rock

Howitt makes four saves for LHU

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (4-6, 2-3 PSAC) fell at home to Slippery Rock (9-1-1, 4-1 PSAC) tonight, 3-1 in PSAC action at Hubert Jack Stadium.
 
Slippery Rock's Stephen Donnelly scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute of play off of a free kick from 20 yards out, giving The Rock a 1-0 lead.
 
Despite the 3-1 deficit, the Bald Eagles played right with No. 24 Slippery Rock in the opening half.  LHU put three shots on goal in the first, including two by Adam Supplee (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) during a big scoring opportunity in the 31st minute.
 
Supplee chipped a shot on net that was saved by ROCK keeper Chis Zier.  The ensuing rebound rolled right back to Supplee who tried to poke it into the net, but was denied by a diving Zier.
 
Declan Brennan put The Rock up 2-0 in the 71st minute when he converted header on a pass from Ryan Boyland.
 
Michael Ramirez headed in the final goal for SRU in the 79th minute.
 
Freshman Troy Amspacher (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) got the Bald Eagles on the board in the 85th minute when he converted on a penalty kick, beating Zier to the low left corner of the net.
 
Lock Haven goal keeper Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning Painted Post East) made four saves on the night.
 
Lock Haven returns to action Saturday (Oct. 19) at 5 p.m. to host Millersville.
