Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (1-5) dropped the final game of a three-game weekend series with Shepherd University (4-9) today, 9-4.
LHU got off to quick start and scored three runs in the top of the first inning.
The Haven got things going in the opening frame with back-to-back singles from 
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and 
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North).
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) came up next and smoked a double to left-centerfield to give LHU a 1-0 advantage.
After a sacrifice fly by 
Tyler Yesensky (Endwell, N.Y./Old Dominion) and a walk, 
Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) singled up the middle to score Zuback and cap off the three-run LHU first.
The Bald Eagles tacked on another run in the top of the fourth, when 
Josh Jones (Neelyton, Pa./Southern-Huntingdon) hit an RBI single up the middle that scored Kyne to give LHU a 4-0 advantage.
The Shepherd pitching staff came around however, and LHU was only able to muster two more hits after the fourth inning.
After scoring one in the bottom of the fourth, the Rams added three runs to tie the game in the fifth and scored two more in the sixth to take the lead.
Shepherd plated three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull ahead 9-4.
Four of Shepherd's final five runs were unearned.
Hartman led LHU at the plate, going 3-for-5.
Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) got the start on the mound for LHU.  Nestor allowed four runs and struck out four Rams in 4.2 innings of work.
Alec Jacob (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) and 
Garrett Shnyder (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) combined to throw the final 3.1 innings in relief.
Jacob struck out one hitter in 1.1 innings of work and Shnyder fanned one Ram in the last 2.0 innings.
The Bald Eagles return to action next Saturday (March 16) when LHU travels to Florida for its annual spring break trip.  LHU is scheduled to play six games over the break and kicks off the trip with a doubleheader on Saturday against Ashland University.
