Baseball drops road contest with SHIP, 7-3

Hartman paces LHU with three hits; Haven gears up for crucial conference weekend

Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (14-21) fell to Shippensburg (23-17), 7-3 today in a PSAC crossover game at Ship's Fairchild Field.

The Bald Eagles got off to a quick start, as The Haven plated two runs in the top of the first inning off of four hits.  The inning was highlighted by an RBI double by Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.).

Trailing 3-2 in the seventh, LHU evened the score at 3-3 when Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) hit an RBI single to left field.

Shippensburg answered however, as the Red Raiders scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim the win.

Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) led The Haven with three hits on the day.  He was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Jose Diaz (Oak Ridge, N.J./Gloucester County College) each collected two hits for LHU.

Henritzy went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Diaz was 2-for-3.

Zuback finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Haven starting pitcher Garrett Shnyder (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) allowed one earned run in 4.1 innings of work.  He struck out three.

The Bald Eagles are back in action this weekend when LHU takes on Indiana (Pa.) in a crucial PSAC West matchup.  The Bald Eagles travel to IUP on Friday (April 26) and The Haven hosts the Crimson Hawks on Saturday (April 27).  Lock Haven will celebrate senior day on Saturday at Foundation Field.
