Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team closed the game on a four-goal run and with 4:07 left,
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) scored the game-winner as the Lady Eagles slipped past Bloomsburg, 6-5, advancing to tomorrow's PSAC title game.
Lock Haven (15-1), the PSAC's top-seed and five-seed Bloomsburg (10-8) locked up an instant-classic as both teams battled through a grueling defensive struggle for the better part of the match.
The Huskies, the defending PSAC Champion held a 1-0 halftime lead and they led 5-2 with 15:30 left in the game.
With 13:30 left,
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored on a free-position shot. The goal cut the Bloomsburg lead to, two and sparked four-goal Haven run.
With just over 10 minutes to play,
Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) tied the match on her only goal of the game and with 4:07, left Pandolf put LHU up for the first time in the game and for good as the Lady Eagles held on for the semifinal-win.
The first half was a tremendous defensive battle with both teams combining for just one goal. Julie Falk put the Huskies up 1-0 midway through the first half.
Pandolf finished with three goals.
Rachel Ward (Fishers, Ind./Bishop Chatard) joined Hamilton and Borrino has Haven goal scorers.
Borrino dished out two assists for Lock Haven.
Falk led all Bloomsburg scorers with a hat trick, while Sam Mazzie scored twice for the Huskies.
Lock Haven's strong defensive effort was led by
Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton), who had three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Goalie
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) made three saves in her 15th win of the year.
In the second semifinal of the day, No. 7 West Chester (14-4) slipped past No. 12 IUP (13-3), 7-6 in another thrilling PSAC battle.
With 1:40 left in the game, West Chester's Lauren Glassey scored her second goal of the game and one of the biggest goals of the season. Glassey was one of three Golden Rams, who scored a pair of goals, including Tori Dugan and Jamie Dolan.
Dugan added one assist and West Chester goalie Jess Henderson made 11 saves on the way to the win.
Drew Hayden led IUP with two goals.
Lock Haven will play West Chester for the title tomorrow (Saturday, May 4) at 1 p.m.

- LHU entered the tournament as top-seed after an 11-0 run through conference play. It marked the first undefeated season in PSAC play since 1991.
