LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team dropped a thrilling PSAC Tournament Final to rival and No. 7 West Chester, 8-7 today.

Lock Haven (15-2) closed the game with two goals, but the late-rally couldn't overcome West Chester's (15-4) hot start.

Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) led LHU with a hat trick. The Haven's other four goals came from four different players.

West Chester was led by Lauren Glassy, who had three goals and two assists. The Golden Ram goalie, Jess Henderson was also spectacular today and made nine saves. Yesterday, her 11-saves against IUP pushed West Chester into today's championship. For her efforts, she was named PSAC Tournament MVP.

Less than a minute into the match, Glassey scored the first of her three goals to put WCU up, 1-0.

It wasn't even four minutes later when Jill Murray (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) put Lock Haven on the board after a sensational individual effort. A dodge and spin move around the defender left her wide open in front of the net and she fired the ball past Henderson.

The Golden Rams then went on a 4-goal run and Tori Dugan's goal with just 36 seconds left in the first half made it 5-1.

Lock Haven wasn't done however and took some major momentum into the break. Chelsea Borrino's (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) amazing individual effort led to a goal as time expired. The goal cut the WCU lead to three, 5-2

Again, West Chester was quick to score in the second and the Golden Rams held an 8-5 lead with 7:42 left.

A Haven goal from Emily Cilla (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) made it 8-6 and Pandolf capped off her hat trick with 1:28 to play, making it a one-goal game, 8-7.

Lock Haven's rally would end there however, as WCU held on for its 21st PSAC crown.

Defensively, not enough can be said for the efforts of Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton, Pa./Souderton)  and Christina Hawkins (Harve de Grace, Md./Harve de Grace), who kept LHU in the game with three caused turnovers apiece.

Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) was solid in net for LHU and finished with four saves.

LHU held a slight, 18-17 advantage in shots and a 19-16 advantage in ground balls. West Chester led 10-6 in draw controls.

The 2013 NCAA Division II Lacrosse Selection Show is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, May 5) night at 8 p.m. The Lady Eagles will wait to see if they are selected to the NCAA Tournament. Earlier this week, Lock Haven was ranked No. 3 in the NCAA DII South Region poll. The top-four teams from the North and South region earn spots in the tournament.
