SLIPPERY ROCK, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (12-7, 6-5 PSAC) dropped a pair of matches against Gannon University (16-2, 9-2 PSAC) and Slippery Rock University (12-7, 6-5 PSAC) today in conference play.
LHU (12-7, 6-5 PSAC) battled tough but fell to Gannon University (16-2, 9-2 PSAC) , 3-0 (23-25, 24-26, & 19-25) in the first match of the day.
Leading the way for The Haven was freshman
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carrol) with 10 kills and seven digs on 34 attempts.
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) was right behind Gomish statistically with nine kills in the match. Anderson added six digs.
Jessica Brown (Fawn-Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) recorded another double-double on the season with 31 assists and a team-high 16 digs.
Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) and
Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) recorded a strong defensive campaign with 15 and 14 digs, respectively.
The Lady Eagles recorded eight assisted blocks and three aces in the loss.
In the second match of the night LHU fell to Slippery Rock in three straight sets, 3-0 (21-25, 23-25, & 22-25).
Anderson and Gomish continued to lead the Lady Eagles with 15 and 11 kills, respectively.
Anderson logged a .481 hitting-percentage.
Toryn Quivers (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) added six kills in the loss.
Brown recorded another double-double with a match-high 37 assists and 12 digs.
Belcastro was the defensive leader for The Haven, halting The Rock attack with 16 digs.
The Lady Eagles recorded four service aces in the loss.
LHU returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 11) at the Edinboro Crossover with matches against Mercyhurst (12:30 pm) and Edinboro (6 pm).
