EDINBORO, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (13-8, 7-6 PSAC) went 1-1 today on the road, downing Mercyhurst University (14-6, 9-4 PSAC) and falling to Edinboro University (17-6, 9-4 PSAC) in PSAC play.

LHU battled for five sets against Mercyhurst before pulling away with, 15-13 victory in the final set.Â

Leading the way in the match against Mercyhurst was senior
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) with a match-high 19 kills.

Freshman
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carrol) continued to have a sensational rookie campaign recording a double-double in the match. Gomish tallied 14 kills and added 11 kills in the win.

Junior
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) was behind Gomish with 13 kills and 15 digs.Â

Jessica Brown (Fawn-Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) set up the Haven attack with 48 assists and 17 digs.Â

Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) defensively stilled The Lakers campaign with a season and match-high 40 digs.

Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) added 12 digs in the win.

The Lady Eagles recorded four service aces and eight assisted blocks.Â

In the second match of the night LHU battled through another five set thriller before falling to The Fighting Scots of Edinboro.

Gomish and Anderson once again anchored the Haven attacked with 17 and 16, kills respectively.Â

Flick added 12 kills and 17 digs in the loss.

The Haven put up a strong defensive effort, with five Lady Eagles recording double-digits.

Belcastro and Burns continued to be the defensive leaders with 27 and 25 digs, respectively.

Brown recorded an all-around performance, dishing out a match-high 48 assists, 21 digs, and two aces.Â

Annie Dombrowski (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) tallied 12 digs in the loss.

In the fifth set of the match the Lady Eagles recorded a .400 hitting percentage with 13 kills and only one error.

The Lady Eagles return to action Friday, October 17 against Shippensburg at Thomas Fieldhouse on the PSECU court (7 pm). LHU will host its annual Dig Pink event during the match to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. All attending are encouraged to wear pink.
