Volleyball sweeps Shippensburg in conference action

Cody Anderson and Megan Flick post double digit kills in Lock Haven’s eighth conference win of the season

LOCK HAVEN, PA. – Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) and Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) propelled the Haven attack with double digit kills as the Lock Haven University volleyball team (14-8, 8-6 PSAC) downed visiting Shippensburg University (10-13, 4-10 PSAC), 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, & 25-15) tonight at Thomas Fieldhouse on The PSECU court. 
 
The Lady Eagles came out firing on all cylinders and took the first set, 25-19.
 
The Raiders came back in the second match to tie it up at nine, until the Haven attacked responded quickly.  LHU won the second set, 25-15 and continued on to earn a, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, & 25-15) victory.
 
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) and Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) propelled the Haven attack with a match-high 16 and 11 kills, respectively.   
 
Freshman Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll) continued to be a force to be reckoned with, adding nine kills and 13 digs.
 
Stephanie Doherty (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) added seven kills in the win.
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) directed the offense with a match-high 40 assists and two aces.
 
Sophomore Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) halted the Raiders offense with a match-high 22 digs.

The Lady Eagles were aided by 8 aces.
 
Annie Goerl led Shippensburg with 10 kills.
 
The Lady Eagles showed their support in the fight against Breast Cancer by wearing pink in tonight's match and sharing some personal stories in between sets.
 
Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 18) to host Millersville University in conference action.  Tomorrow's match will also be a "Pink Out" to raise Breast Cancer Awareness.  All in attendance are encouraged to wear pink!
