Lady Eagles down visiting West Chester in five set thriller

Anderson led LHU with a match-high 18 kills in the win

LOCK HAVEN, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (17-10, 11-8 PSAC) downed visiting West Chester University (18-12, 8-11 PSAC), 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 16-25, 25-22, & 15-8) tonight at Thomas Fieldhouse on The PSECU court. 
 
After dropping the second and third sets, the Lady Eagles rallied to win the final two sets of the match to seal a, 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 16-25, 25-22, & 15-8) victory over the Golden Rams of West Chester.
 
Leading the way for The Haven was senior Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) with a sensational match.  Anderson recorded a match-high 18 kills and six digs through five sets.
 
Stephanie Doherty (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) sparked The Lady Eagle attack with 10 kills and a .318 hitting-percentage.  Doherty defensively halted the Golden Ram attack with two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
 
Junior Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) was the defensive leader tonight with 23 digs and two assisted blocks.  Flick added nine digs in the win.
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) set The Lady Eagles with a match-high 48 assists and six digs.  Brown served up four aces. 
 
Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) and senior Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) delivered a strong defensive campaign with 19 and 10 digs, respectively.
 
WCU was led by Julia O'Brien with 17 kills and three assisted blocks.
 
The Lady Eagles were aided by nine aces and a team .395 hitting-percentage in the fourth set.
 
Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 1) against visiting Cheyney in conference action (1 pm).
