LOCK HAVEN, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (18-10, 12-8 PSAC) downed visiting Cheyney University (2-27, 0-20-PSAC), 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, & 25-7) today at Thomas Fieldhouse on The PSECU court.
Today marked Senior Day as LHU honored seven graduating seniors including:
Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom),
Toryn Quivers (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan),
Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Stephanie Doherty (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot),
Lauren Dentler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley),
Laura Harris (Galloway, N.J./Absegami), and
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg).
Coming off a conference win over West Chester in five sets, the Lady Eagles returned to Thomas Fieldhouse to sweep visiting Cheyney in three straight sets.
The Haven offense was solid today recording an all-around effort to earn an, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, & 25-7) win over the Wolves.
Freshman
Gabrielle Stala (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) led LHU with eight kills in just two sets.
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll),
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle), and
Annie Dombrowski (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) all recorded seven kills, respectively.
Doherty added five kills in the win.
Defensively, the Lady Eagles halted the Wolves attack to just seven kills in the match.
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) recorded a double-double in today's match with a match-high 40 assists and 13 digs. Brown added three aces in the win.
Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) recorded 10 digs and Dombrowski added six digs.
The Lady Eagles were aided by eight aces.
Kilondra Davis led Cheyney with eight kills and Kennetha Wallace recorded 10 digs and seven assists.
Lock Haven returns to action Friday, November 7 when the Lady Eagles travel to Millersville in conference play (7 pm).
