Women’s Basketball falls on the road to No. 20 IUP

Rachael and Syvae McDaniel lead LHU with combined 18 points

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-7, 1-4 PSAC) fell on the road to No. 20 Indiana (Pa.) University (9-0, 4-0 PSAC), 70-59 today in conference action.
 
Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California Univ.) and Syvae McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California Univ.) powered the Haven attack with a combined 18 points, shooting 100% from the free throw line.
 
The Crimson Hawks are ranked No. 20 in Division II as of Monday, December 15.
 
The Lady Eagles took flight at the start of the game earning a lead and holding it for 19:39 minutes in the first half. 
 
IUP gained its sole lead of the half in the 13th minute of play when Amy Fairman netted a three to lead LHU, 15-14.
 
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) answered back for The Haven with a jumper to give LHU the lead and held it for the remainder of the half.
 
The Lady Eagles led IUP, 22-21 at the break and halted The Crimson Hawks to 29.2% from the field after the first twenty minutes of action.
 
At the start of the second half IUP gained momentum with two free throws in the first minute to take a, 23-22 lead.
 
The lady Eagles fought for the lead but IUP proved to be too tough down the stretch as The Crimson Hawks sealed a, 70-59 victory.   
 
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) netted eight points and dished out five assists.
 
Moyer, Emily Chobany (Portage, Pa./Portage), and Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) each filled out the score sheet with six points each in The Haven effort. 
 
Kirsti Bair (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and Moyer each added five rebounds in the loss.
 
LHU scored 30 bench points and 18 points in the paint.
 
Lindsay Stamp led The Crimson Hawks with 23 points and six rebounds. 
 
The Lady Eagles return to action Saturday, December 20 when LHU hosts Seton Hill in conference action.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
