LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (0-5, 0-2 PSAC) fell, 75-63 to visiting West Chester (6-0, 3-0 PSAC) in conference action at Thomas Fieldhouse on the PSECU Court.
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) netted 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) delivered an all-around effort leading LHU with 15 points and dishing out three assists. Lane shot 7-10 field goals in 31 minutes of action.
LHU started the game off strong as
Kirsti Bair (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) put The Haven on the board in the first minute of play.
Both teams were firing on all cylinders as neither team could break away with a strong lead in the first half.
Lane sparked The Haven offense with a huge defensive stop to give LHU a, 34-30 lead.
West Chester rallied and netted three free throws, but LHU was able to hold a 34-33 advantage at the break.
At the start of the second half, Lane netted a jumper in the paint to extend LHU's lead to, 36-33 in the second minute of play.
West Chester rallied late in the second half and gained a 12 point advantage to seal a, 75-63 victory.
Sophomore
Loren Kaiser (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) set up the Haven attack with a game-high four assists and added six rebounds.
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) netted 13 points and a season-high 3 three pointers in the loss.
Defensively,
Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California Univ.) led LHU with three steals and added seven points.
The Lady Eagles shot 75% from the free throw line and recorded 22 points in the paint. LHU netted 16 bench points and added 16 assists.
Chikish Steele-Hook led West Chester with 19 in 34 minutes of action.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Tuesday, Dec. 16 when LHU travels to Pitt-Johnstown in conference play (5:30 p.m.).
