#4 Lady Eagles rally late, but fall at #15 IUP in OT

No. 4 Lock Haven rallies late, but Haven opens PSAC action with 11-9 OT loss

Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – The No. 4 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (2-2, 0-1 PSAC) rallied late to force overtime, but the Lady Eagles opened PSAC play at No. 15 IUP (4-2, 1-0 PSAC) with an 11-9 loss.
 
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) led the way for Lock Haven with a three-goal effort.
 
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) added two goals and Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) dished out four assists.
 
Goalie Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) made 11 saves to keep the Lady Eagles in the game and defensively, Kelly Close (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) played well – adding three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
 
The PSAC opener for both teams proved to be a tight battle throughout, with LHU and IUP deadlocked at three goals apiece at halftime.
 
Down 9-6 late in the game, Lock Haven rallied to the score three goals in the final two minutes of play to knot the game at the end of regulation.
 
Hamilton had two of the three goals in the last-minute frenzy, including the game-tying goal with 26 seconds left in the game.
 
IUP however netted a pair of goals in the overtime frame to secure the important conference and regional win at home.
 
The fourth-ranked Lady Eagles were coming off their first loss of the season. Lock Haven fell to No. 3 Limestone 11-7 on Thursday afternoon in Salem, Va.
 
The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 25 at Edinboro (4 p.m.).
