Baseball falls at home to West Chester

Lock Haven falls in game one, 3-0 and game two, 9-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to West Chester today in PSAC East action at Foundation Field.
 
Lock Haven (11-17, 3-12 PSAC East) dropped game one to West Chester (17-11, 10-7 PSAC East), 3-0 and the Bald Eagles fell in game two, 9-1.
 
Game 1 Recap:

Game one of today's doubleheader featured a pitchers dual between Jacob Belinda (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) (LHU) and Ryan Swearingen (WCU).
 
West Chester scored two runs off of Belinda in the top of the first inning, but the freshman right-hander would settle in after that.  He allowed just two hits over the next four innings.
 
West Chester added an insurance run in the sixth that pushed its lead to, 3-0.
 
Swearingen did not allow a hit through 6.1 innings, and walked just one before Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) broke up the no-hitter with a single to center field.
 
Swearingen struck out two and allowed just one walk in the game
 
Belinda went the distance and scattered eight hits.
 
Game 2 Recap:
 
West Chester plated seven of its nine runs in the first inning of game two.  The Golden Rams seven first inning runs came off of three hits and six free passes.
 
The Bald Eagles scored their lone run in the sixth inning when Anthony Kyne (Newtown, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) doubled to left field that scored Zuback from second base.
 
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown Square, Pa./Council Rock North), Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.), Pierce Ranck (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and Evan Price (Portage, Pa./Portage) each had singles for LHU.
 
The Bald Eagles used six different pitchers in the game, led by Evan Moyer (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).
 
Moyer didn't allow a hit in two innings of relief and struck out two.
 
John Barr picked up the win for West Chester.  He pitched 6.0 innings and struck out three in his first win of the year.
 
Lock Haven returns to action Tuesday (April 15) when the Bald Eagles host Mansfield for a PSAC East doubleheader.  First pitch from Foundation Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
