Baseball drops two to PSAC East rival Mansfield

Haven falls in game one, 4-0 and drops game two, 10-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to PSAC East and local rival Mansfield at Foundation Field.
 
Lock Haven (11-20, 3-15 PSAC East) fell in game one to Mansfield (18-15, 6-12 PSAC East), 4-0 and game two, 10-0.
 
Game 1 Recap:
 
Mansfield jumped out to an early, 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off of LHU starting pitcher, Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner).
 
Nestor allowed just the one run in two innings of work before yielding to Aaron Lidgett (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch).
 
The Mounties capitalized on four Lock Haven errors to in the middle innings to pull ahead, 4-0.
 
Lock Haven had their chances to score, but were unable to plate a run.  The Bald Eagles put a runner on third base in the second, third, and fourth innings, but could not get a run on the board against Mansfield pitcher Chas Parsons.
 
Parsons was solid on the mound, throwing a complete-game three-hit shutout. 
 
Lidgett allowed one run in four innings of relief.  Evan Moyer (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) pitched a scoreless seventh inning for LHU.
 
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases for the Bald Eagles.
 
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) hit LHU's lone extra-base hit in the game, a second inning double.  He finished 1-for-3.
 
Pierce Ranck (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) also singled for the Bald Eagles.
 
Game 2 Recap:
 
Mansfield won game two, 10-0 behind starting pitcher Louis Sick, who allowed just one hit in six innings of work.  Sick was perfect through four innings until Botts drew a leadoff hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning followed by a single by Anthony Kyne (Newtown, Pa./Penn State Brandywine).
 
The Kyne single was LHU's lone hit of the game.
 
The Mounties scored their 10 runs off of six hits.
 
Cody Godfrey (Windsor, Pa./Red Lion) pitched three solid innings of relief for LHU and did not allow a runner to reach base.  He recorded two strikeouts.
 
Lock Haven returns to action Friday (April 18) when the Bald Eagles host Kutztown for a PSAC East doubleheader.  First pitch from Foundation Field is set for 1 p.m.
