#8 Lady Eagles down #13 Mercyhurst 10-8 in OT thriller

Pandolf nets five; Hamilton records hat trick in the win

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 8 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-2, 5-1 PSAC) remained perfect at home after the Lady Eagles downed visiting and 13th ranked Mercyhurst University (9-2, 5-1 PSAC) 10-8 in a PSAC overtime thriller.

Lock Haven got a pair of sensation individual efforts from co-captains Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and junior Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) who combined for eight points to lead The Haven attack.
 
Mercyhurst proved to be a tough opponent as The Lakers netted the first goal of the game within 40 seconds to lead LHU, 1-0. 
 
Senior Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) netted a goal from the top of the eight-meter to put LHU on the board.
 
The game was tied three times in the first half before Pandolf netted her first goal of the game to give LHU a, 4-3 lead. 
 
Hamilton recorded her second goal to give LHU an, 5-4 advantage at the break. 
 
LHU continued to battle as Mercyhurst fought for the lead.  In the final minute of regulation, junior Rachel Ward (Indianapolis, Indiana, Bishop Chatard) drove to the pipes and fired, but Mercyhurst's Rebecca Muscella made a great stop to end regulation tied, 8-8.
 
The Lady Eagles gained possession in the first period of overtime when Pandolf grabbed a draw control and transitioned into the offensive end. 
 
With less than 1:31 left in the first overtime period, Pandolf rattled the cage to give LHU a huge, 9-8 lead.
 
Pandolf was fouled with 17 seconds left in the first overtime period and netted a free position shot to seal the win.
 
The Haven was able to hold Mercyhurst defensively heading into the second overtime period and maintained possession as the buzzer sounded with a Haven victory.
 
Borrino recorded three assists on the day and junior Taylor Klunk (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) added a goal.
 
Christina Hawkins (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) and Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton) led the defensive unit with six caused turnovers combined.
 
Jenna Dingler (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) caused two turnovers in the win.
 
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) recorded two saves between the pipes for LHU.
 
The Lady Eagles host Millersville University on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. in PSAC action.
