Lady Eagles fall to Lakers

Lock Haven drops home match to Mercyhurst 2-0 tonight in PSAC action

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (1-2-0, 1-2-0 PSAC) fell 2-0, tonight (Wednesday, September 10) to visiting Mercyhurst (2-0-1, 2-0-1 PSAC) in PSAC action at Hubert Jack Stadium.
 
The visiting Lakers scored a goal in each half to escape Clinton County with the win.
 
The Lakers took a 1-0 lead late in first half after an evenly played 45 minutes of soccer.
 
Kiley Cleveland made a long run down the right side of the field and sent a strong crossing pass into the box that found the foot of Lauren Testa, who fired it far post for the goal.
 
A speedy Leisha Noble (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) caused the Lakers some trouble midway through the opening period, but LHU couldn't draw up any strong scoring changes despite solid buildup.
 
The Lady Eagles continued to pressure early in the second half.
 
Haylee Kubat (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) forced Laker goalie Ellie McDougall to make a strong save and Jamie Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) sent a curling shot wide just minutes apart early in the second.
 
Mercyhurst made it 2-0 in the 67th minute on Testa's second goal of the match.
 
The Lady Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 13 at 2 p.m. on the road at Gannon in PSAC action.
