Bald Eagles open PSAC play with 2-0 win over UPJ

Lock Haven gets goals from Sablyak & Oldaker; Bald Eagles win home & PSAC opener

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (2-1-1, 1-0 PSAC) opened PSAC play today with a 2-0 win over visiting Pittsburgh-Johnstown (0-4, 0-1 PSAC).

Playing in front of the home faithful for the first time in 2014, the Bald Eagles started four freshmen, but there was never a doubt, as Lock Haven outshot UPJ 15-6 and dominated all over the field.

Tyler Sablyak (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) put LHU up 1-0 just 6:42 into the match, as he drilled a rocket into the upper corner from 12 yards out. It was the first goal the season for Sablyak.

The Bald Eagles continued to press and were rewarded in the 86th minute after Jacob Oldaker (Elliottsburg, Pa./West Perry) tucked his second goal of the season home for 2-0 lead. Oldaker collected a perfect crossing-pass from Tyler Schumaker (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and neatly sent in past UPJ goalie Nate Kleya on the near post.

Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning Painted Post East) was called upon to make just one save, as the Bald Eagles defense in front him was more than up to the task today.

Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 20) at 7:30 p.m. vs. Seton Hill.
