Lady Eagles shut down UPJ, 1-0

Maddy Novak’s first goal of season lifts Lock Haven past Pitt Johnstown

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (2-3, 2-3 PSAC) picked up its second win of the season today with a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Pittsburgh-Johnstown (0-4, 0-3 PSAC)

Lock Haven took home the victory, thanks to Maddy Novak's (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) first goal of the year.

Novak ran onto a long Jamie Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) pass in the box and fired the shot past UPJ goalie Timi Shiock in the 20th minute.

The win was well deserved for LHU, as the Lady Eagles dominated the match from the opening whistle. Lock Haven outshot UPJ 17-4 over 90 minutes.

Haven goalie Michelle Cuomo (Schenectady, N.Y./Herkimer) made three saves.

The Lady Eagles are now 2-1 at home on the season with conference wins over Clarion and UPJ at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 20) at 5 p.m. vs. Seton Hill.
