Volleyball goes 1-1 today in PSAC action

The Lady Eagles fall to Seton Hill in five sets and down California, 3-1 in conference play

MILLERSVILLE, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (7-4, 2-2 PSAC) went 1-1 today at Millersville, falling to Seton Hill and downing California (Pa.) in the last match of the weekend.
 
Lock Haven opened the day with a five-set battle with Seton Hill before falling 3-2, (25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, & 13-15) in the first match.  The Lady Eagles closed out the weekend with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 13-25, & 25-15) win over California (Pa.).
 
The Lady Eagles received an all-around Haven effort through five sets against SHU. 
 
Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom High) led LHU with a season-high 16 kills and five digs.
 
Junior Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) ignited LHU with 13 kills, while Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) and Toryn Quivers (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) added 11 kills, respectively.
 
Flick recorded 10 digs in the loss.
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard_Dale) continued to pace the Haven attack with a game-high 60 assists and 16 digs.
 
Defensively Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh/Hopewell) led LHU with 25 digs and Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) added 18. 
 
Anderson was the spark for The Lady Eagles against California, recording a game-high 17 kills and .400 hitting-percentage.
 
Flick added 9 kills in the win.
 
Freshman Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll) continued her strong freshman campaign with 8 kills and a .438 hitting-percentage.
 
Brown dished out a game-high 39 assists and 14 digs.
 
Once again Belcastro led LHU defensively with 20 digs.  Burns added 13 digs in the win.
 
Burns reached over 1,000 career digs in the match against Seton Hill.  After today's matches, Burns now has 1,032 overall digs.
 
Lock Haven returns home on Friday, September 26 against East Stroudsburg (7 p.m.) in PSAC East action.
