Bald Eagles extend win streak, drop West Chester, 3-1

LHU records second straight win over nationally-ranked team, wins third straight match, remains perfect in PSAC play and extends overall unbeaten run to five games

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team recorded a huge victory on the road this afternoon at West Chester, as the Bald Eagles downed the nationally-ranked Golden Rams, 3-1.

Lock Haven's (4-1-1, 3-0 PSAC) win marked the second straight over a nationally-ranked team as, West Chester (4-3, 2-1 PSAC) received votes in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's National Poll, which came out yesterday.

The win also pushed Lock Haven to a perfect 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play and keeps the Bald Eagles atop the conference standings. With the win, Lock Haven extended its win streak to three and its overall unbeaten run to five matches.

The big story today for LHU was Troy Amspacher (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), who netted a pair of goals.

Amspacher put LHU up 1-0 in the 22nd minute when he covered a penalty shot.

Less than two minutes after Amspacher's first goal of the game, host-West Chester tied the match at 1-1 on a goal from Matt Fioravanti.

The two longtime PSAC rivals went into halftime deadlocked at 1-1.

Lock Haven took the lead again in the 52nd minute thanks to Asher Klahold's (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) first goal of the season.

Amspacher put the game away with his second of the game and fourth goal of the season in the 63rd minute.

Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post East) followed up the best game of his career last Saturday night vs. Seton Hill with a three-save effort today.

The Bald Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 27 when they host East Stroudsburg at 4:30 p.m.
