LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team used a strong second-half to push past visiting La Salle 2-1 today in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

The Lady Eagles (7-2, 2-0 A10) scored two second-half goals and held La Salle (3-4, 1-1 A10) to no shots in the second period to earn the hard-fought conference win.

The win helped LHU jump to 2-0 in conference play and snapped a three-game win streak for the Explorers.

Despite outshooting La Salle, 9-3 in the opening half, LHU trailed 1-0 at the break after Colleen Kempf's 26
th minute tally.

Lock Haven drew even in the 43
rd minute after
Rachel Valentine (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) scored her fifth goal on the season. Valentine knocked the ball into an open net after a perfect crossing pass from
Devyn Barry (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), who was making her first career appearance for the Lady Eagles.

LHU took the lead in the 50
th minute after
Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) ripped home a penalty corner shot. The goal was the fifth of the season for Kennedy with both
Nakira Downes (Bridgetown, Barbados/The Combermere School) and Valentine getting credit for assists on the strike.

Rebekah Hershey (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton),
Steph Ebersole (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and
Jenna Felice (Endicott, N.Y./Maine Endwell) led the defensive charge, while goalie
Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) was forced to make just one save.
