LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (7-3) was edged 2-1 today at home by Sacred Heart (5-4) in non-conference action.

Sacred Heart led 2-1 at halftime following a pair of first-half strikes from Christie Mace and Lauren Lawson.

Mace put Sacred Heart up 1-0 in the 12
th minute when she deflected home a penalty corner shot.

LHU got on the board in the 26
th minute when
Megan Wenrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) knocked home a rebound on the far post. Wenrich's goal was set up after
Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) drilled a shot forcing a big save from Sacred Heart keeper Mary Altepeter.

Lawson put Sacred Heart up for good in the 29
th minute when she fired home a big-rebound on the far post from a tough angle.

Both teams had strong scoring opportunities in the second half, but neither could gain any ground.

LHU led 15-10 in shots and held a 13-8 advantage in penalty corners.

Lock Haven hits the road for a pair of tough contests. The Lady Eagles take on the University of Massachusetts on Friday, October 4 at 4 p.m., before traveling to Rider for a Sunday, October 5 (12 p.m.) match.
