Women’s Soccer drops season-opener

Lady Eagles fall to IUP on the road

Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (0-1, 0-1 PSAC) fell 6-0 on the road at IUP (1-0, 1-0 PSAC) today in The Haven's 2014 season-opener.
 
IUP, who was picked ninth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Preseason Coaches' poll led 5-0 at halftime and the hosts - added a second-half goal.
 
The Lady Eagles settled in during the second half got a strong effort form a number of players, including forward Natasia Lenox (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who did all she could to spark The Haven attack with a pair of shots.
 
LHU goalkeeper Michelle Cuomo (Schenectady, N.Y./Herkimer) got the start and made four saves in 75-plus minutes of action.
 
Lock Haven was picked 13th in the PSAC preseason poll.
 
Today marked the return of Rob Eaton to LHU, as he coached his first game of the women's coach. Eaton is no stranger to LHU. He's a 1988 LHU graduate, a former standout player for the Bald Eagles and he also served as men's coach at The Haven from 1997 to 2002.
 
Lock Haven returns to action on Saturday, September 6 at 5 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host Clarion in their 2014 home-opener.
