Hepburn drills game-winner; Bald Eagles soar to overtime win over Kutztown

Hepburn hits game-winning jumper with two seconds remaining in overtime

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) hit a game-winning jumper with two seconds remaining in overtime, as the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-10, 4-6 PSAC) held on for a, 100-98 win over Kutztown University (10-7, 7-4 PSAC) today.
 
Lock Haven, who led, 48-41 at halftime, found themselves trailing, 80-73 with four minutes to play in the game.  The Bald Eagles rallied, however, closing the game on a, 13-6 run to force overtime.
 
The two teams traded buckets during the extra five minutes of action until Hepburn seized control with the game-winner with just two seconds remaining.
 
Hepburn finished with a game-high 27 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists.
 
Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) had a huge game for the Bald Eagles, scoring a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.
 
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) and Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) each scored 16 points in the win.
 
Walker added seven rebounds and dished out four assists, while West grabbed six rebounds.
 
Nate Walters (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards for The Haven.
 
LHU shot 60% from the field in the game, its best mark so far this season.
 
Kutztown, who entered the game tied atop the PSAC Eastern division, was led by Tynell Fortune's 22 points.
 
The win snapped a four-game losing skid for Lock Haven.
 
Tonight marked the second of three straight road games for the Bald Eagles, who return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 14) at Millersville University.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
