LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-11, 5-7 PSAC) to an, 88-70 win at home today over Cheyney (1-15, 0-12 PSAC) at PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Walters' 18 points were a new career-high for the senior and the double-double was his first of the season.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) and
Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) added 16 points each in the LHU win.
Hepburn, the PSAC's leading scorer, was a perfect 10-for-10 at the foul line and added seven rebounds and five assists.
West added nine rebounds on the day.
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) had a strong all-around game, finishing with seven points, six assists and 11 rebounds.
Walker produced the highlight of the night when he threw down a tomahawk jam over a Cheyney defender with just over six minutes remaining in the game that brought the Haven Nation crowd to its feet.
The Bald Eagles defense was stellar tonight, holding the Wolves to just 30.7% shooting from the field.
The win moves the Lock Haven into a three-way tie with Mansfield and West Chester for fourth place in the PSAC East at, 5-7.
Juwan Mullen led Cheyney with 16 points.
Lock Haven returns to action Wednesday (January 21) when the Bald Eagles travel to Shippensburg for a 7:30 p.m. tip. LHU returns home next Saturday, January 24 to host local-rival Bloomsburg at 4 p.m.
