LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team's bid for upset came up just short as No. 9 California (Pa.) University hung on for a 71-62 victory today at PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.

Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) led the way for LHU with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa../Loyalsock) and
Emily Daugherty (Laughlinton, Pa./Ligonier Valley) each scored 10 to pace the attack.
Â
Loren Kaiser (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) added eight points, while
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

Daugherty also added three assists and two rebounds in all-around solid effort for LHU.

Lock Haven jumped on visiting Cal early and led until the 4:42 mark of the first half as LHU looked poised for the upset.

A huge spark in the first 20 minutes of play was the effort of Lane and Kaiser, who each netted eight points.

Cal led by six at the break, 37-31 and the Vulcans hung onto to lead in the second despite never pulling away in a game that game that came down to the final minutes, and final possessions.

Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Sunday, January 4) when the Lady Eagles host Slippery Rock at 1 p.m.
