BETHLEHAM, Pa. – The Bald Eagles got goals early and often, and four different players scored today as the Lock Haven University field hockey team (14-3) cruised to a 4-1 victory at Lehigh (3-11) in non-conference action.
Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport),
Kiersten Cepeda (Lititz, Pa./Warwick),
Noelle Kephart (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) all scored for Lock Haven.
Smith ripped home a penalty corner shot just 10:23 into the match and LHU rolled from there. Cepeda made it 2-0 in the 26
th minute.
Lehigh got one back early in the second half, as Lock Haven led 2-1 with 33 minutes left to play.
Kephart and Roach both struck in the second half.
Stephanie Whiteman (Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago/Bishop Anstey East),
Rachel Valentine (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) and
Lydia George (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) were all credited with an assist in the game.
Whiteman, along with
Colleen McCabe (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) and
Jenna Felice (Endicott, N.Y./Maine Endwell) led the defensive charge.
Maddie Wagenfield (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was sensational in goal and finished with nine saves.
LHU returns to action on Friday, October 23 with a 3 p.m. match at home vs. Appalachian State.
