MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (16-10, 8-7 PSAC) picked up an important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East win over host Millersville University (14-12, 5-11 PSAC), as the Bald Eagles downed the Marauders in thrilling fashion, 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 18-15, 25-12 & 15-11).
With the win tonight, LHU caps the season-sweep of Millersville. Lock Haven beat Millersville 3-1 at home on October 3.
As Lock Haven trailed 2-1 after three sets, the Bald Eagles got in rolling the fourth. LHU hit .343 in the fourth set on the way to tying the match at 2-2, and setting up the fifth-set win.
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll),
Brittany Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) and
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) led the attack.
Gomish finished with 15 kills, while Moyer and Flick added 14 and 13, respectively.
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) was stellar and finished with 44 assists. She also had four of The Haven's 11 aces.
Sydney Belcastro (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) recorded 34 digs as her strong defensive play was key in the victory.
LHU hits the court again tomorrow (Saturday, October 31) at Shippensburg University (1 p.m.).
