WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-2, 0-1 PSAC) dropped its 2015-16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East opener tonight on the road at No. 25 West Chester University (2-1, 1-0 PSAC), 74-52.
Despite a strong start from Lock Haven, West Chester, the PSAC East preseason favorite pulled away, thanks to a strong third quarter. LHU trailed by just two after the opening quarter, 16-14 and the Bald Eagles were down 35-26 at the break.
Lock Haven had a balanced scoring attack tonight, led by
Loren Kaiser's (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) nine points.
Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) added seven points and four other players netted six points apiece.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) led Lock Haven on the glass with eight rebounds, including seven on the defensive side.
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) was one of four players to score six points. She also matched a game-high with five assists.
LHU heads to California (Pa.) University on Saturday, November 21 for PSAC Crossover action (1 p.m.).
