LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (3-4, 1-3 PSAC) picked up a 74-68 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East win over Mansfield (3-3, 1-3 PSAC) this evening, thanks to double-doubles from
Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, PA./IUP) and
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona).
With the game tied at 21 late in first half, the Bald Eagles went on a 14-3 run over the final 4:33, which led to 35-24 halftime lead.
Dakota Farmery (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) sparked the run with two offensive rebounds and four points.
With a strong offensive push by guards
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and
Loren Kaiser (Bethlem, Pa./Pace University), LHU stretched the lead to 14 after three quarters, 51-37.
Mansfield wouldn't go away easily, however and the Mountaineers pushed the pace in the fourth, but the Bald Eagles held strong. Mansfield was able to narrow the deficit down to six points, but LHU hit its free-throws and picked up the first conference win of the season.
Livingston shot five of nine from the field and an impressive 11-12 from free throw line. She finished the game with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Mealing finished the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Lock Haven is back in action when they host Gannon University on Friday, December 4 at 5:30 p.m.
