LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) scored a game-high 18 points, leading three players in double-figures scoring and the Bald Eagles rallied late in the second half, but wasn't enough for the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-7, 2-6 PSAC), as visiting Millersville (6-4, 4-4 PSAC) hung on for a 71-64 win.
McDaniel hit three 3-pointers on the way to her game-high 18.
Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) netted 11 points and
Loren Kaiser (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) added 10.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) led LHU with eight rebounds and
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) dished out a game-high eight assists.
Millersville started quick and led 22-6 after the first quarter. The Marauders pushed on, and led 33-21 at halftime. MU shot 41 percent from the field in the opening half and got eight points from Tyisha White.
McDaniel led Lock Haven with eight first-half points.
Mealing drilled a deep 3-pointer to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter, sparking a fierce rally. The basket made it a seven point game with Millersville leading 48-41 heading to the fourth.
The Bald Eagles were outstanding in the final period, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.
LHU will enjoy some time off for the holidays and the Bald Eagles will return to the court on Wednesday, December 30 at Post (4 p.m.).
