Fast start drops Clarion, extends win streak

The LHU men’s basketball team got off to a fast start, which sparked the Bald Eagles to their sixth straight win.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (8-2, 4-2 PSAC) got off to a fast start which helped the Bald Eagles drop Clarion University (6-4, 4-2 PSAC) 75-66 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
 
The win was Lock Haven's sixth straight and pushed the Bald Eagles to 8-2 on the season. LHU is now 4-2 in PSAC play, having won four straight conference games.
 
LHU also remained a perfect 4-0 at home this season.
 
Leading the way today for the Bald Eagles was Tracy Peal (Wilmington, Del./Archbishop John Carroll). Peal scored a team-high 17 points, but it was his play in the game's final minutes that helped win the game for Lock Haven.
 
Peal took over the game with two minutes remaining, hitting making several key shots to seal it.
 
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) scored 16 points and had eight rebounds, while Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) netted 10 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) turned in another outstanding effort. He finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.
 
Lock Haven led 48-40 at halftime and led by as many as 17 poitns in the first half.
 
Defensively, Renninger and Peal stepped up big over the final five minutes of the game and led Lock Haven to victory after Clarion tied the game 63-63 with 4:41 left.
 
After some time off for the end of the academic semester and finals, LHU will return to action on Wednesday, December 16 at 7:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Kutztown in PSAC East action.
