LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Rachel Ward (Indianapolis/Bishop Chatard) of the Lock Haven University women's lacrosse team is one of 18 players who were selected to represent Ireland at the 2015 Women's European Lacrosse Championships hosted by the Czech Republic.

Ireland's National Team will compete for the European Championship in Nymburk, Czech Republic August 6 through August 16, 2015.

The senior-midfielder was one of 18 carefully chosen players, including 12 returning competitors from the 2013 World Cup.  Ward is among six newcomers to this 2015 team.

Ward, a veteran to the lacrosse field, has experienced great success with the Lady Eagles in her time at Lock Haven.

In 2014, LHU made it to the NCAA Division II Final Four, falling to Adelphi in the Championship game.

The Lady Eagles won the 2014 PSAC Championship for the seventh in school history and first since 2011.

Through three years with LHU, Ward has made her mark in the score sheets.

In 56 total games played, Ward earned 29 starts, netted 89 goals, and seven game-winning goals.

The veteran midfielder has 70 total ground balls and 44 draw controls and is looking to help lead the Lady Eagles through another successful season.

LHU head coach Kristen Selvage could not be more proud of Ward.

"We are incredibly proud of Rachel and all of her accomplishments.  She is living proof when you work hard enough, you can single handedly make your own dreams come true.  Rachel brings a wealth of joy and work ethic to our team, I am certain she will bless her new teammates with these same extraordinary qualities.  We are just happy that we get to have her for one last season before she moves on to even greater feats. " said Selvage.

Ward is finishing her final semester at Lock Haven, majoring in Fitness Management.

"It's both an honor and privilege to be selected to the national team," said Ward.  "I'm excited to experience the European Championships with this team and represent Lock Haven on an international level."
