LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (8-15, 8-11 PSAC) continued its playoff push today with a, 78-71 win over Millersville University (13-13, 9-11 PSAC) at PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse.
The win is a huge one for LHU, who now sits in a tie with Shippensburg for fifth place in the crowded PSAC East playoff picture. The Haven is just a half-game behind Millersville for fourth, but is also just a half-game ahead of Mansfield who sits in seventh.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) had another big night for Lock Haven. Hepburn scored a game-high 25 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists in the win.
Hepburn connected on 16-of-18 of his free throw attempts in the game, which became vital in the final minutes of play.
Al Blount (Northampton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) had another solid game for LHU, scoring 11 points that included two three-pointers. Blount has now hit at least one three-pointer in 10 straight games.
Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) netted 10 points and five rebounds and was a crucial presence for the Bald Eagles in slowing down MU's Anthony Moe.
After playing limited minutes in the first half because of foul trouble,
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) came up big in the second half with seven points and nine rebounds.
Moe led Millersville with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
LHU returns to action Wednesday, February 18 when the Bald Eagles travel to Cheyney for a PSAC East matchup. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
