Lady Eagles drop Millersville, remain in playoff hunt

Three Lady Eagles record double figures in the win; McDaniel leads LHU with team-high 11 points

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (9-15, 8-11 PSAC) is still in the hunt for a PSAC Playoff spot as LHU edged visiting Millersville University (11-14, 8-12 PSAC), 63-59 on the PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse today.
 
Lock Haven beat Millersville in both matchups this season, after downing the Marauders a month ago today, 49-46.
 
Three Lady Eagles recorded double figures in today's win over the visiting Marauders of Millersville.
 
Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) led LHU with a team-high 11 points off the bench, while senior Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) added 10 baskets. 
 
Senior Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and paced the Haven attack in the opening period, netting eight points and grabbing two steals.
 
McDaniel was huge in the second period, netting eight points in 10 minutes of action.
 
The Lady Eagles shot 54.5% (12-22) from the field to hold a slim, 33-31 advantage at the break.
 
LHU took control of second period, netting nine unanswered points in the first two minutes. 
 
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) gave the Haven the largest lead of the night (12 points) after netting a jumper in the paint to give LHU a,  44-32 advantage with 16:08 remaining.
 
Millersville battled back to tie the game, 55-55 with 2:33 left in the game.
 
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) sparked the Haven offense after a fast break layup to lead MU, 57-55.
 
Millersville rallied, but the Lady Eagles proved to be too much down the stretch, as LHU sealed a, 63-59 victory.
 
Aalyah Hall led Millersville with 13 points in 24 minutes of action. 
 
The Lady Eagles netted 24 points in the paint and added 22 bench points. 
 
Today's win keeps Lock Haven in the playoff hunt in the Eastern Division.  The Lady Eagles currently sit in the sixth and final playoff spot, behind Kutztown who sits fifth.
 
LHU returns to action Wednesday, February 18 when The Haven travels to Cheyney in conference action.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
