Bald Eagles claim 4th straight win; Close regular season at Bloomsburg Wednesday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (10-15, 10-11 PSAC) punched its ticket to the postseason today with a, 74-63 win over Shippensburg University (12-13, 8-13 PSAC) at PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse.

The win was LHU's fourth straight and secured the Bald Eagles second straight season which culminated in a PSAC playoff appearance.  Lock Haven last made the PSAC playoffs in consecutive seasons during the 1989-90 seasons.

Lock Haven, which currently sits in fifth place in the Eastern Division, will await the results of next Wednesday's games before The Haven will know who and where they will play in the first round of the playoffs.  The PSAC quarterfinals are set for Saturday, February 28 at the site of the higher seed.

Tonight's game featured a tale of two different halves.  LHU struggled to score in the opening period and The Bald Eagles trailed the Red Raiders, 31-23 at halftime.

The Bald Eagles came alive in the second half, however and soared ahead thanks to a, 29-10 run in the first 10 minutes of the period.  The Haven led by as many 16 points in the half, 60-44 with 7:33 to play and LHU outscored SHIP in the second half, 51-32 to secure the win.

Lock Haven honored its three seniors Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti), Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) and Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) before today's game.

The seniors proved to be the difference in today's game, as all three scored in double-figures.

Hepburn led all scorers with 20 points on a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.  He added four rebounds and four assists.

West notched his third double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  He added two steals, two blocks and was a huge part in slowing down SHIP big-man, Dylan Edgar.

Walters netted 11 points and pulled down six boards in the win.

Abe Massaley led Shippensburg with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Lock Haven closes out the 2014-15 regular season next Wednesday (Feb. 25) when the Bald Eagles travel to Bloomsburg for a 7:30 p.m. tip
