LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) nets a game-winning jumper in the final second of the game, as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (11-14, 10-11 PSAC) sealed a, 72-70 win over Shippensburg University (17-10, 13-8 PSAC) today at Thomas Fieldhouse on the PSECU Court.
Lock Haven, who trailed for much of the first half, kicked it into gear when senior
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) netted a layup for a, 27-26 Haven lead with two minutes remaining.
Kirsti Bair (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) netted a layup in the paint as the buzzer sounded for a, 35-28 LHU lead at the break.
Both teams came out firing on all cylinders at the start of the second half, trading buckets as neither team could gain an advantage.
With 13 seconds remaining in the game, Shippensburg's Vicky Tumasz tied the game, 70-70 with a thrilling three-pointer.
Lock Haven seized control and with :01 second on the clock, Hilliard drilled a jumper to seal a, 72-70 Haven victory.
Moyer finished the game with another double-double on the year, netting a season-high 23 points and game-high 14 rebounds. Moyer recorded 21 points in the first half, just shy of a Lock Haven record. (Suzie Baird netted 26 points against Bridgeport in 1993).
Senior
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) netted 17 points, shooting 7-for-8 from the free throw line (87.5%).
Loren Kaiser (Bethlehem, Pa./Pace Univ.) netted 12 baskets, while Bair added 10 points in the win.
Lock Haven shot 80% from the free throw line and netted 30 points in the paint.
Shippensburg was led by Lauren Gold with 22 points and Morgan Griffith with 10 rebounds.
With today's win the Lady Eagles are currently tied for fourth in the PSAC Eastern Division with East Stroudsburg.

Jennifer Smith and the Lady Eagles took time to honor their four graduating seniors, including, Bair, Lane, Moyer, and
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley).
Lock Haven closes out the 2014-15 regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Bloomsburg in conference action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
