Haven falls in overtime battle with Mansfield

Hepburn leads all scorers with 28 points; Walker scores career-high 22 points in double-double

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (6-15, 6-11 PSAC) fell today in an overtime battle with Mansfield (8-14, 6-12 PSAC), 84-79 at PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
Lock Haven, which held a five-point, 34-29 lead at halftime, could not overcome a hot-shooting overtime period by the Mounties.  Mansfield shot 4-of-6 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point land in the extra session.
 
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) led all scorers with 28 points, including 16-of-17 shooting from the free throw line.  He added six rebounds and six assists.
 
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) had a career-night offensively for LHU.  Walker scored a career-best 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added 10 rebounds and six assists for his second straight double-double.
 
Al Blount (Northampton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) hit three triples on the day and finished with 11 points.
 
LHU had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Hepburn's jumper came up short and the game went to overtime knotted at, 66-66.
 
Mansfield controlled most overtime thanks to the play of Joe Bell.  Bell scored 13 of his 23 points in overtime to seal the win for MU.
 
Charles Pemberton scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds off the Mountie bench
 
LHU returns to action Wednesday, February 11 when The Haven hosts Kutztown at Thomas Fieldhouse.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
