BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Senior Rachel Ward (Indianapolis/Bishop Chatard) led the No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (2-0) to a solid, 16-9 victory over No. 4 Le Moyne College (3-1) today at Bloomsburg University.
Rachel Ward paved the way for the LHU attack today with a game-high seven goals for a 100% shooting percentage on the day.
The Lady Eagles jumped to a, 5-0 lead in the first ten minutes of action against the No. 2 ranked Dolphins.
Lock Haven continued to drive to the net, holding a 11-6 advantage at the break.
Senior Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) made a huge save at the start of the second half to set the tone for the remainder of the game.
Le Moyne fought for momentum but Lock Haven was resilient and sealed a, 16-9 LHU victory.
LHU won 19-of-27 draw controls, 13 of which occurred in the first half.
Senior Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) netted a hat trick and dished out four assists in the win.
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) recorded three goals and grabbed a game-high nine draw controls to drive the Haven attack.
Lock Haven proved once again to be strong defensively, recording 11-for-12 successful clears and forcing eight turnovers.
Amari Pollard led Le Moyne with three goals.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 21 when Lock Haven hosts No. 20 Indiana (Pa.). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
