#2 Lacrosse opens PSAC action with 12-5 win over IUP

Ward continues to lead LHU with 6 goals; Pandolf nets 4 goals

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-0, 1-0 PSAC) opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with a, 12-5 win over visiting Indiana (Pa.) University (2-4, 0-1 PSAC) today.
 
Senior Rachel Ward (Indianapolis/Bishop Chatard) was once again a force to be reckoned with as the Lady Eagles opened PSAC action with 12-5 win over IUP.
 
After an IUP goal in the third minute of action, Ward sparked The Haven offense with three straight goals in eight minutes to give LHU a, 3-1 lead.
 
The Lady Eagles held The Crimson Hawks defensively, allowing only two goals in the first half.
 
Lock Haven led, 5-2 at the break.
 
Redshirt-senior Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) set the tone for the second half, netting her third goal of the game in the first minute of action for an, 6-2 Haven lead.
 
Up 9-3 late in the game, IUP netted back-to-back goals in shorten the LHU lead to, 9-5.  
 
Three straight Haven draw controls swung momentum in LHU's favor as the Lady Eagles sealed a, 12-5 victory.
 
Today's game marked the first PSAC game of the season for both Lock Haven and IUP.
 
Ward finished the day with a game-high six goals and Pandolf netted four in the win.
 
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) delivered an all-around effort recording two goals, four ground balls, and two draw controls.
 
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and Taylor Klunk (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) directed the Haven attack with six and three assists, respectively.
 
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) recorded five safes between the pipes for LHU.
 
Defensively, Lock Haven caused 12 turnovers and recorded 18-for-19 successful clear attempts, 12 of which took place in the second half.
 
Kim Hooven led IUP with a pair of goals and one draw control.
 
The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 24 when LHU hosts Edinboro University (4 p.m.).
