MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (0-2) opened the season today with two losses to Mercyhurst University (2-0) at the Ripken Experience Baseball Complex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

LHU dropped game one, 9-1 and The Haven fell in game two, 10-0.

Ryan Orgitano (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) led LHU with two hits in the two games today.

Mercyhurst, who received votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll, got a tremendous pitching effort from Colin McKee in game one.

McKee took a no-hitter through 6.2 innings, before Orgitano broke up the no-no with a single to centerfield. A MU error on the play led to LHU's lone run of the contest.

Orgitano finished 1-for-3 in the game.

Madison Neddo (Earlville, Md./Coppin State Univ.) started on the mound for LHU. Neddo struck out one in 4.1 innings of work.

Aaron Lidgett (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch) allowed just one run in 2.2 solid innings of relief. Lidgett fanned three and allowed just two hits on the afternoon.

The Lakers jumped out to a quick, 4-0 lead after the first inning of game two. Haven starter
Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) settled in after the first and didn't allow another run in his final four innings of work.

Nestor scattered six hits and struck out one on the day.

Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) went 1-for-3 with a double for LHU.

Orgitano was 1-for-2 in the game.

Mercyhurst got another strong pitching performance in game two. Jon Klein struck out eight in 5.2 innings and picked up the win.

The Bald Eagles are right back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 8) when The Haven takes on Mercyhurst in another doubleheader. First pitch of game one from Myrtle Beach High School is set for 4 p.m.
