MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (0-4) dropped a doubleheader to Mercyhurst University (4-0) today on the second day of play at the Ripken Experience Baseball Complex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

LHU was edged in game one, 2-1 and The Haven fell in game two, 6-2.

Despite out-hitting the Lakers, 5-3, the Bald Eagles dropped game one, 2-1.

Lock Haven jumped out to an early, 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.).

Mercyhurst capitalized on a Bald Eagle error in the second inning and tied in the game at, 1-1. The score remained knotted at, 1-1 until MU's Austin Alonge drove in the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run with a single in the fifth inning.

Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) got the nod on the mound for LHU and allowed just three hits in 4.2 innings of work. Belinda struck out three and allowed just one earned run in the loss.

Five different Bald Eagles tallied a hit in the game, including
Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Haven starter
Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) settled in and allowed just one more run in his final three innings on the mound. Watson finished with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Nick Hornbaker (Lancaster, Pa./Garden Spot) came on in relief for LHU and pitched a scoreless inning in his collegiate debut.

Ethan Moore (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) went 3-for-3 with a double in the game.  Moore drove in one RBI and added a stolen base and a run scored.

Angel Martinez went 2-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs to lead Mercyhurst.

The Bald Eagles are right back in action tomorrow (Monday, March 9) when The Haven takes on Pfeiffer in a single, nine inning game. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
