WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – The Lady Eagle bats came alive today, but in the end it wasn't enough as the Lock Haven University softball team (1-5) was edged in a pair of one-run games.

LHU dropped game one of the day to Charleston, 6-5, before falling to No. 23 West Virginia Wesleyan, 8-5, in a back-and-forth affair that saw a little bit of everything.

The Lady Eagles, who recorded just two hits yesterday in two games, exploded for 13 runs on 20 hits today.

Game 1 (Charleston) Recap: L, 6-5Â
Down, 6-3 after five innings, the Lady Eagles rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but the rally came up just short despite 11 hits in the game.

McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) had a huge game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) each had two-hit games. Holweger also drove in a run.

Pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) recorded four strikeouts in four strong innings of relief.

Charleston improved to 7-1 on the season.

Game 2 (#23 West Virginia Wesleyan) Recap: L, 8-7Â
Nationally-ranked WVW used a RBI, walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to take down Lock Haven. It was the second win of the season for the Bobcats.

Lock Haven's seven runs came off nine hits.

Weaknecht had another strong game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) drove in a pair of runs.

Today (Sunday, March 8) marked the third straight day of play in the Sunshine State for the Lady Eagles, who are now 1-5 on the young season.
